In Defense of the Freaks

Recently, in a conversation I was having, it was suggested that I should not use the term, "Jesus Freak" in referring to myself, due to the negative definition of the word "freak." There was a time when I would have responded with sarcasm and pride, but praise God! Through Jesus Messiah I am being changed! As I have learned to do, I simply responded, "OK," with a smile. That got me to thinking perhaps I needed to do a little investigating the word for myself (again). The following definitions are from dictionary.com . Freak (freek) -noun * any abnormal phenomenon or product or unusual object. Jesus said, " But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you ." -John 14:26 (NIV) Jesus promises His followers that an abnormal phenomenon will happen in their lives.
